Kuwait Canara Welfare Association celebrated its annual event “KCWA Christmas Tree 2010” with much grandeur at Carmel School hall, Khaitan, on Friday 10th December. The event began at 3:00 pm with a welcome note from MC Stephen Machado. Various competitions for members and children were organized as part of Christmas celebration. Fancy dress, Solo dance, Duet singing for adults, and Christmas Star contests were held for various age groups. Sunitha D’Silva conducted the contests. All the judges were honored thereafter by the President.
President of KCWA Mr. Rudy D’Souza welcomed all the dignitaries, guests & members. He thanked the members and well wishers for their wholehearted support for the event. Thereafter all the sponsors were felicitated. Annual merit scholarship awards for member’s children were presented. Mr. Sam & Mrs. Mable Alphonso scholarship awards, Mr. Lawrence D’Souza scholarship awards, Mrs. & Mr. P.V. Saldanha scholarship awards, Late Thomas Castelino scholarship awards and Spinn’s Confectionery Extra Curricular awards were presented. All the awards were presented by Fr. Harry D’Souza and respective sponsors. Sunitha D’Silva conducted the awards ceremony. Fr. Harry gave a befitting Christmas message.
It was time for fun as MC Stephen Machado announced DJ/Dance session. DJ Kiran Sunny played some hot numbers to the much delight of the crowd, who danced their hearts out. Number of spot prizes were given away during the dance session. A tableau on Christmas theme was wonderfully presented by Mable Suvarna & team. Santa Claus made a grand entry and distributed sweets and toys to all children. KCWA members presented some melodious Christmas Carols.
Competition results were announced and prizes were distributed. Hamper draw and members draw were held thereafter and attractive prizes were given away. Gulf voice of mangalore runner-up & KCWA member Warren D’Souza was felicitated for his achievement. Anil Fernandes & fly. and Stephen Machado & fly. were honoured for their outstanding contribution to KCWA as committee members. Grace before the meals was led by Rudy D’Souza. Sumptuous dinner was served to all the attendees by Royal Plaza. The program was concluded at 10.30 pm.
