Kala Milan 2010 …..A grand success

Kuwait, April 9: KCWA’s “Kala Milan-2010” on Friday April 9, at 4.30pm at the American International School Auditorium was grand success. The programme began with a welcome song by Rudy D’souza, Jossie D’cunha, Jovita Fernandes and Joylene Gonsalves, followed by introduction of all stage performers with the song Kala Milan. During the felicitation function, ambassador of India, Ajai Malhothra, and Fr John Harry D’Souza, spoke words of appreciation and extended their support for KCWA’s future ventures. Sponsors, guest artiste, Victor Concessao, Director, Lancy Rodrigues, and writer, Rosary Ferns, were felicitated and honored with mementos.

 

The main attraction of the evening was the enacting of Konkani Tiatr, “Kuwait Sodun Vetana” for the second time. The Tiatr that was originally written by well known Goan writer, singer and director Rosary Ferns, and translated into Mangalorean Konkani and directed by Lancy Rodrigues � Bondel. The flashback scenes of the Tiatr were pasteurized by Alban D�souza, Blue-Ray Video and Photography, and edited by Rick’s Entertainment (Michael Monis). �Illuminations� (Anand D’souza) provided state-of-the-art sound and lights, while the flashback projections were done by Steevan Misquith. The music score for the Tiatr and all the songs in the Tiatr was arranged and directed by John Kiran Gonsalves and supported by Joe D’souza.

 

Moreover, to mesmerize and entertain the music lovers and visiting artiste, Victor Concessao, one of the popular Konkani singers from Mangalore, presented super hit songs like Sath Daryacha Paltodi, Love Letter, Idli Chutney, Yore Moga, Tara, Mogacha Rita and Dubaichem Zitta, in his melodious voice, along with local singers, Lancy Rodrigues, Joylene Gonsalves, Jovita Fernandes, Gration D’Souza, Jossy D�Cunha and Roshan Olivera. Foot-tapping and sensational dances for the songs were performed by one of the most reputed dance groups of Kuwait, Jovas XLNC, choreographed by Sunil and Jyothi Noronha.

 

Scintillating music was provided by Suneeth Noronha, Clifford Rodrigues, Anil Pais and Austin Salins.The program was well compered by Lydia Misquith and Ida D’Silva. A tribute to Konkan Kogul, Late Wilfy Rebimbus, was paid during the program with a slide show and a few words from KCWA president, Rudy D’Souza. Gration D’Souza rendered a song of Wilfy, which took the audience back to those days when Wilfy Rebimbus visited Kuwait and sung for the Kuwait audience. On the whole, the program was a perfect blend of laughter & emotions, with heart-touching script, dedicated acting, original jokes, rib-tickling comedy, foot-tapping dances and a wonderful program organized by KCWA once again, which will be remembered and cherished for a very long time.
