Cricket Cup 2017

KCWA held Cricket Cup 2017 on Friday, 3rd March at Boulevard Park Grounds, Salmiya. For the first time the tournament was held for Veterans along with regulars. 12 teams participated in the tournament, which was held exclusively for KCWA members. Over 200 members took part in the event.

All together 18 matches were played. In the final match held for Regulars, Mangalore Friends defeated Canara XI by 15 runs to lift the coveted trophy for the third time in a row. Sharq United won the Veterans Trophy while KICC team was the Runners up.

The tournament began by invoking Lords blessings led by Rajesh Aranha. President Albert Praveen Menezes welcomed the teams and guests and declared the tournament open. It was a day & night tournament started at 10 am and concluded by 10:30 pm. Naveen, Nadeem and Martin were the umpires; Sunil David was the scorer of the tournament.

Best Bowler: Joyston D’Souza (Sharq United)

Best Batsman: Loyd (Udyavar Friends)

Man of the match & Series: Joel D’Souza (Mangalore Friends)

In the presentation ceremony, President Albert Praveen Menezes welcomed Ex-Presidents of KCWA Pascal B. Pinto and Anil Fernandes. He thanked all who helped in organizing the tournament. Sports Secretary Prashanth Loyd handled the presentation ceremony. 20-20 style was the main sponsor of the tournament. Alban D’Souza captured the event through his skills in photography. Prashanth Loyd, Alex Rego and Naveen Mascarenhas coordinated the tournament with the support of KCWA Managing Committee members.

KCWA Sports committee,

This is one event a lot of members look forward to and now to see it being held at this venue is just wonderful.

Lot of familiar faces, Alex Rego & Felix Saldanha, to name a few.

Thanks for all the pictures.

Brought back wonderful memories of my time playing for KCWA.
