Traditional Konkani Songs Virtual Training 2021

KCWA is one of the foremost associations in Kuwait. Thousands of poor children and needy people back home have been beneficiaries of charity work and are witnesses of its achievements. The Organization is successful because of the great support of valued sponsors, members & well-wishers.

KCWA organizes various activities during the year to encourage its members and their families in several ways. KCWA identity of a prominent Mangalorean association has always strived to explore the inner talents of its members’ children by conducting various competitions and providing platform through cultural events in the field of arts, music and skill.

In order to preserve the Mangalorean culture and keep the Konkani language alive, KCWA has come up with “TRADITIONAL KONKANI SONGS” – A VIRTUAL TRAINING programme in collaboration with MANDD SOBHANN (R.).

MANDD SOBHANN, the World’s Premier Konkani Cultural Organization. A registered society, established in 1986 for the preservation, promotion, enrichment of Konkani language and Culture, and to ensure the transmission of the Konkani heritage to future generations.

The training course is not only for KCWA members’ but also open to the Konkani community throughout the globe. So, what are you waiting for? Grab this opportunity to learn Konkani Traditions n preserve them for posterity’.

The course will unfold in 8 sessions and 9 topics.

The topics are as below :

  1. Traditional Songs (Golden popular hits)
  2. Gumtta Po’dam
  3. Baall Gitam (Bhurgyank Nidanvchim ani Khellonvchim)
  4. Voviyo (Sampro’dayik ani Novyo)
  5. Vers (Traditional wedding songs)
  6. Dekhnni Ani Manddo songs
  7. Dulpo’dam – Polka – Baila
  8. Popular Mandd Sobhann songs
  9. Bho’Ktik Gitam

Note: Every session will begin with a devotional song – written by Rev. Dr. Pratap Naik S.J., and tuned by ‘Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratn’ Eric Ozario, the course director. Hence, apart from learning 60 songs Medleys and Manddos the Participants will have the privilege of learning 8 devotional songs in a unique mold.

1.The course will be conducted on zoom from the Kalaangann studios, Shaktinagar Mangalore, by Mandd Sobhann – who have the world’s best collection of Traditional songs and vast experience in conducting online courses.

Each session will be of 90 minutes (8.30pm. to 10.00 p.m. IST) the first 60 minutes will be for learning and the next 30 minutes for interaction. In order to facilitate smooth learning, Mandd Sobhann will ensure that every registered participant will receive the lyrics of all the songs, in both Kannada and Roman scripts including the devotional songs at least 3 days before the session (by Tuesday, each week). The participants should take a print-out and familiarize themselves with the lyrics and have the lyrics before them, while learning. Needless to say, that parents/elders must guide the children in the learning

2.OPEN TO ALL: Anyone around the world who wish to learn and perpetuate Konkani Traditional Songs.

3.Contest information: In order to ensure that the participants have learnt these songs, KCWA has also organized a contest at the end of the course. The contest will be in 2 categories – (i) Individual or (ii) Family (A Family should consist of at least 2 – Husband/Wife or any other combination).

Attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the winners (First/Second/Third) in both the categories (Individual and Family). All contestants will also receive a participation certificate.

4.Registration: Please register in the category you have chosen (Individual or Family). One cannot register in both the categories. If you have chosen the “Family” category, please specify the names and relationship of the family member.

  1. No registration fees.
  2. ‘One registration’ valid for both – course and contest.
  3. The last date to register is 15 June 2021.
