KCWA: Anil Fernandes was unanimously elected as President of Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) for the year 2013-2015. The election for the new office bearers was held during the General Body Meeting held on Friday 22 March at ICSK auditorium, Salmiya. Anil Fernandes hails from Ferar parish in Mangalore and was serving as General Treasurer of KCWA for the past 5 years. He succeeds Stephen Machado, who successfully led KCWA for the past two years and achieved incredible success.
Earlier during the meeting Fr. Noel DAlmeida, Asst. Parish Priest of St. Daniel Comboni Parish, Abbasiya, was chosen as Spiritual Director of KCWA, as decided by the Managing Committee and overwhelmingly approved by the General Body. Incidentally KCWA is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year.

Election commission comprising of Stephen Machado, Jossie Pinto and Gladys Suares conducted the election procedures smoothly. KCWA stepping in its 25th year of existence is basically funding educational needs of poor children in Mangalore and Udupi Dioceses and has education fund set up in almost all the parishes. KCWA also serves the needs of other allied purposes and helps deserving poor with other needs. Entertainment programs, competitions and leisure activities are often held for the benefit of members and their children in Kuwait every year. KCWA has donated more than Rs. 2 crores in charity thus far and under the able leadership of Anil Fernandes, it is assured that KCWA will climb to greater heights and more glories in coming days.
