Kuwait, Dec 1: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association celebrated its annual event “KCWA Christmas Party 2012” with much grandeur in full house capacity at the Indian Community School hall, Khaitan, Kuwait on 30th November 2012. The Main sponsor of the event was Mr. Charles D’Sa.

 

The event began at 4:30 pm with the introduction from MC Dr. Manohar Prabhu and a hymn to Mother Mary. Various competitions for members and children were held. Christmas Star, Fancy dress for the kids with ‘nature’ theme, Traditional Indian Couture, solo Dance, Group Dance, Mad Ads and Christmas Carol competitions were held for various age groups. Fr. Noel D’Almeida was the chief guest. The winners were honored with Mementos and the judges were honored thereafter.

 

Annual merit scholarship awards for members’ children were presented. They included Sam and Mabel Alphonso scholarship awards, Lawrence D’Souza scholarship awards, P V Saldanha scholarship awards, the late Thomas Castelino scholarship awards and Spinn’s Confectionery extra-curricular awards. All the sponsors of the event were called on stage and honored. On this occasion Mr. Archie Menezes, Mr. Jossie Pinto were specially honored for their selfless service to KCWA and the Konkani community in Kuwait. Orson D’souza, the winner of Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2012 was felicitated during this occasion

 

Fr. Noel Almeida gave a befitting Christmas message and praised KCWA for their service towards the poor and the needy. To add spice to the celebration and befitting the occasion, Santa Claus made a grand entry with reindeers and distributed sweets and toys to all children. Auction was held for a painting donated by Trevor. Hamper draw and members draw were held thereafter and attractive prizes were distributed. Housie housie was conducted as part of the entertainment. A word of gratitude was proposed by Vijay D’souza. Delicious Mangalorean dinner was served to all by Royal Plaza Caterers. While the dance lovers continued to dance to the wonderful music by DJ Kiran the others savored the taste of delicious cuisine. It was quite a thrilling experience for kids and adults as everyone enjoyed every moment of the day to the fullest. The program concluded at 11.30 pm with the baila nach.

 

Sound, Lighting was provided by Illuminations (Anand D’Souza). Orson D’souza coordinated the whole event with support rendered by the Management Committee. Dr. Manohar, Anil Fernandes & Orson D’souza compered the event.
