Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) premiered Traditional Konkani Songs 2021 Contest results on KCWA YouTube Channel on Friday, 29th October 2021 at 7.00 pm K.S.T.
Prior to the Contest, – A Virtual Training programme was conducted in collaboration with MANDD SOBHANN (R) for 8 Fridays via Zoom platform from Kalaangann Studios, Shaktinagar Mangalore. The first session was held on 30th July, 2021 at 6.00 pm K.S.T and ended on 24th September 2021.
This course was open to Konkani community around the globe who wish to learn and perpetuate Konkani Traditional Songs. We are glad to mention that participants from 9 countries registered and participated in the course. Each session was 90 minutes duration, first 60 minutes for learning and next 30 minutes for interaction.
The course consisted of 9 topics:
- Traditional Songs (Golden popular hits)
- Gumtta Po’dam
- Baall Gitam (Bhurgyank Nidanvchim ani Khellonvchim)
- Voviyo (Sampro’dayik ani Novyo)
- Vers (Traditional wedding songs)
- Dekhnni Ani Manddo songs
- Dulpo’dam – Polka – Baila
- Popular Mandd Sobhann songs
- Bho’Ktik Gitam
After the successful completion of the course, KCWA organized contest for the participants. The contestants had to record a 15 minutes video of the songs learned during the course from any three sessions. A total number of 32 entries were received for the contest out of which 26 in Individual and 6 in Family category.
The Contest results premiere began with a traditional Konkani hymn. KCWA President Ruth Clara Veigas thanked Mandd Sobhann for conducting this successful course. She congratulated all the contestants for their participation and conveyed her best wishes. She also thanked the Judges and Sponsors of the program.
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Baab Eric Ozario thanked KCWA for giving them the opportunity to conduct this course. He also thanked his team who supported in conducting the course and contest.
