KCWA Each One Teach One Campaign 2023 – donates INR 15,41,376 to Daya Special Children Day Care Centre

KCWA took up the construction project of “Daya Day Care Centre” Belthangady Taluk, Ujire with the support of Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas in 2015, a school premises for the special needs children. KCWA funded the project with an amount of Rs.12.4 Lakhs towards completion of the project. An additional support of IRS 3.7 Lakhs was extended in the year 2017.

The centre was introduced to support differently abled children. Parents of these children are poor & marginalized and mainly daily wage earners/cooli workers. Due to the low income they are unable to fulfil the needs of their children. Daya Day Care Center looks after the day to day needs of the children by means of providing various trainings and medical aid students free of cost.

Daya began with fifteen special needs children and now within the span of eight years it has 150 special needs children. It has nine special educators, two physio, speech and hearing therapists. Many have improved in health & hygiene and developed their skills in reading and writing. The centre has three regular drivers and five assistants to help the children. They also provide free transportation for these children. Children are served with daily morning break-fast, nutritious lunch and evening milk & dry fruits.


On this memorable occasion, vice president Arun Jossy D’Souza, general secretary Reena Wilma Pereira, auditor Kevin Preetham D’Souza and education fund coordinator Veena Serrao were present and handed over the cheque to the director Fr Vinod Mascarenhas. On behalf of management, Fr Vinod welcomed the guest and gathering and gave a brief introduction of Days day care. He thanked KCWA president, the office bearers, donors and all well-wishers for their selfless sacrifices and contribution for the wellbeing of the special children.

On behalf of KCWA, the General Secretary, Reena Wilma Pereira addressed the gathering and appreciated the good work done by Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK) in Daya Special School and the Suvidya interest free loan for the education of the rural poor youths and said KCWA is very privileged to be the partner of CKSK.

KCWA Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) handed over a cheque of INR 15,41,376 (fifteen lakh forty one thousand three hundred seventy six only) to Daya Special Children Day Care Centre for the treatment and rehabilitation of differently abled children on Tuesday, July 25, through Each One Teach One Campaign 2023.

The director Fr Vinod Mascarenhas felicitated the KCWA vice president Arun Jossy D’Souza for the KCWA’s contribution towards the welfare of the Daya special children and education of the rural poor. After the stage program, Daya special children exhibited their colorful talents and entertained the guests. The KCWA committee members too joined with the children by singing melodies songs.

The programme was conducted by Poornima and head mistress Divya proposed the vote of thanks.
